You can take the dog out of the forest, but you can’t take the forest out of the dog!
Little Miss Doggie seemed very protective of a little something that she had on our loveseat, but I had no idea what it was. Finally, when she stepped away, I had a look. It was an acorn! I remembered so fondly that we had rescued her from the forest, and treasures such as these are probably are what kept her alive for her time when she had been abandoned (or just wandered away from the campsite of her first family.)
When she discovered me looking at her acorn, she came back and let me know that it was hers. I relinquished my Mommy control and stepped away. She was happy and pleased, and I was so proud of her for being so ingenious.
On a side note, I did a thing! This morning I got up and baked my very first pound cake, all before work. It smells like it must have worked okay, and it looked fine when I took it out of the oven. Yum yum for later.
Surely our dog will get a taste of the pound cake later, to go with her leftover acorn bits. Fall!
