Book Nook

Guess what! I don’t mean to brag, but I cleared out an area in my home, and have made it into, yes, a “Book Nook.” I mean, honestly, who would not want to establish a place in their home for books, with a light nearby?

Granted, everybody probably is on an e-reader, but I’m one of the folks practically dipping my quill into ink by the light of a burning candle. Honestly, I prefer paintings to camera film, and find television somewhat loathsome, except for when I’m watching it and then you can’t tear me away. Except maybe for listening to music or for eating food items like chips.

In any case, I’m so proud of the Book Nook that I like to think about it when I’m not there, and will foolishly stay up exceedingly late at night, just to peruse with a lamp my little book shelf that I’ve had since I was a child. The books located there are already read or abandoned, usually with a Book Mark expired for years. Book marks don’t really expire, but if you’re like me, you’ll start over at the beginning anyway.

The Book Nook is analogous to my personal life, and I’ve got a strong case of “Beginner’s Mind,” or maybe just forgetfulness. In any case, I can see the Nook from my bed, and I know that it is there, urging me to be refined and civilized and literate. God bless us, every one.

  1. I’m working on a book nook! Alas, I’ve gotten into crocheting and quilting and other sewing and don’t have much time to read books. But I love reading your blog.
