Cardamom

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but my beloved mother is a home remedy fanatic, who does pass on her knowledge to me regularly. I love her for it, and her latest innovation is a good one, so I thought I’d share it with you all, though it might not be good for everyone, because some of you might give me a strong wtf on this one. It depends on your particular coffee preferences.

As you may have guessed, this does involve the spice, cardamom. So yes, my tribute to my mother does involve a spice already devoted to my “Mom.” Cool, right?

Well, with the observation that coffee is a very acidic beverage, and that ill health results from an overly acidic constitution, apparently you can address this by adding cardamom to your coffee, and that will raise the alkalinity of the beverage. This is some of my mother’s wisdom that she must have learned from her Internet studies.

Oddly enough, I tried it, and actually have come to love my coffee spiced with this somewhat unusual spice affiliation, not often applied to coffee. Yes, I put cardamom in my coffee every morning now, so I hope that it truly leads to better health. I know she puts some other stuff in her coffee, too, but I’m just going to stick with this innovation, my own self. My husband does not care for the taste of coffee with cardamom in it, so I do not try to be bossy with my ways. I just put it in my own cup!

Best wishes, friends, and may your kitchen ways lead to good health as well!

    1. Yeah, I really don’t always understand her homemaker wisdom, but I follow her advice anyway. I’m glad to hear that about tea! Best wishes looking this stuff up, if you feel like it.
